A state of Emergency has been declared by Governor Sherrill:
Heavy snow (12-18 inches) is anticipated starting early Sunday morning, January 25, 2026. There will be no street parking (any time) beginning Saturday, January 24th at 7pm through Monday, January 26th at 7pm so plows can properly clear the roads. Any vehicle parked on the roads will be subject to ticket and tow.
Reminders:
- Remove snow and ice from your vehicles before you travel.
- Help the fire department by shoveling around hydrants.
- Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly.
- Fairfield Township ordinance #25-06 mandates that:
- The owner, occupant or tenant of premises located on Sand Road, Hollywood Avenue, Fairfield Road, Beverly Road, Long Acres Road and Knoll Road shall remove all snow and ice from the abutting sidewalks of such streets or the abutting right-of-way actually used by the public, or in the event of ice, which may be so frozen as to make removal impractical, shall cause same to be thoroughly covered with salt, sand or ashes within 48 hours of daylight after the same shall fall or be formed thereon.
- No owner, tenant or occupant, or its designee, of any premises shall throw, place or deposit snow or ice into or on any street, it being the intent and purpose of this provision to prohibit all persons from throwing, casting, placing or depositing snow and ice which accumulates within the private property belonging to that person on the sidewalks or streets of the Township.
- The Town Council meeting scheduled for Monday, January 26th, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, January 27th, at 7pm.
- There will be no garbage or recycling pick up on Monday due to the storm. It has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
