Winter Weather Alert- Winter Storm “FERN” is forecast to impact our area this weekend- More info@

Winter Storm “FERN” is forecast to impact our area this weekend and
Saddle River Borough is prepared for the approaching storm.
A State of Emergency has been declared by the Governor, including a commercial vehicle ban, see below link.
https://nj.gov/infobank/eo/057sherrill/pdf/EO-8.pdf

Heavy snow, wind, and Icy conditions have been forecast for this powerful weather system. Icy conditions can cause wide spread power outages and delay restoration of power. This storm may continue into Monday, be prepared to stay home even if you lose power.
With Blizzard like conditions, trees and branches may blow down. With that comes the possibility of power outages. STAY AWAY from downed electrical lines. They may be energized even when they appear not to be. Report these problems to the Saddle River Police desk 201-327-5300 and stay away.

Many residents use portable generators for power during outages. The primary hazards to avoid when using a generator are carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from the toxic engine exhaust, electric shock or electrocution, and fire. Follow the directions supplied with the generator. Every year, people die in incidents related to portable generator use. Use caution to provide proper ventilation of exhaust gases from the generator. NEVER run a generator in the garage or any portion of a structure occupied by people or animals.

Please prepare for power outages in advance and have a plan.
If you lose power notify your power company directly for the most current restoration estimates.
