Fatal Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Collision Under Investigation 
Police Investigating Fatal Vehicle-Pedestrian Collision
San Mateo, CA – On Friday, January 23, at approximately 10:31 a.m., the San Mateo Police Department and the San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of South El Camino Real and 17th Avenue.
First responders located the pedestrian, an adult female, who had sustained critical injuries. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle involved, remained at the scene and has been cooperative with the ongoing investigation.
Preliminary information indicates the vehicle was turning north from Bovet Road onto northbound South El Camino Real when the collision occurred within the north crosswalk of South El Camino Real at 17th Avenue. The identities of the parties involved are not being released at this time.
Both lanes of South El Camino Real, as well as the westbound State Route 92 exit to South El Camino Real, were closed for approximately three hours during the course of the investigation. We encourage any witnesses to contact Traffic Officer Jolivette via email at [email protected]
