1. Prepare for 72+ hours without power
2. Turn heat up now to pre-warm your home
3. Gather candles, flashlights, and lanterns in one central room
4. If you lose heat, stay in one room and close doors to keep warmth in
5. Keep cash on hand. Card systems may be down
6. Avoid sleeping under large overhanging branches
7. Locate your main water shut-off valve
8. Have blankets, sleeping bags, and coats ready
9. Fill water bottles for extra drinking water
10. Fill a bathtub with water to flush toilets
11. No travel after freezing rain starts (Sat 6 PM)
12. Stay away from downed lines and assume all are live

14. Go now to shelter if you are concerned about losing power or heat. General shelter at Forest City Dunbar Elementary School at 286 Learning Way Dr, Forest City or Medical Shelter at 252 N. Washington St, Rutherfordton. Food and water provided but bring any food, medicine and blankets you may need.
