Winter Storm Update - Parking and Safety Information

A winter storm is expected to impact Asbury Park early Sunday morning, January 25, 2026, and continuing overnight, bringing snow and strong winds.

To help keep everyone safe and services running smoothly during winter storms, residents can take a few simple steps to support City crews and reduce hazards on neighborhood streets. These small actions help snow removal and emergency operations move more quickly and allow everyone to better weather the storm. Residents are encouraged to take precautions now to help reduce hazards and support emergency and public works operations.

Vehicle and Parking Safety

  • Parking enforcement will be suspended Sunday (1/25) to increase vehicle parking availability throughout the city during the storm
  • When possible, please park vehicles off street in driveways before and during winter storms
  • Move vehicles away from trees, utility poles, and other potential hazards
  • Avoid parking in low-lying or flood-prone areas, especially near the lakes
  • To aid plowing and snow removal and to avoid the possibility of a vehicle being towed, please take note of the following after snowfall ends:
    • Park on the odd-numbered side of the street first
    • Move to the even-numbered side the following day
    • On one-way streets, park on the left side in the direction of traffic flow to allow plows to operate
    • Alternate side parking does not apply in posted snow emergency no-parking areas

Garbage and Recycling Placement

  • Please do not place garbage or recycling containers in the roadway
  • Keep containers on the curb near the street to help maintain clear travel lanes, support plowing operations, and allow for safe parking during the storm
