Winter Storm Update From APD

WINTER STORM UPDATE:

APD is advising residents of hazardous winter weather expected over the next couple of days.

  • Dangerously cold temperatures are expected throughout the next couple of days.
  • Anyone in need of shelter can go to Capital City Rescue Mission located at 259 South Pearl Street or Safe Haven Drop-In Shelter located at 26 South Swan Street. HATAS Homeless Hotline can also be called at (518) 463-2124
A significant snowstorm is under way from Sunday into Monday with an approximate 12-18 Inches of snow expected.
  • Avoid unnecessary travel during periods of extreme cold and snowfall.
  • If travel is necessary, reduced speed and increase following distance.
  • Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle, including warm clothing, blankets, water and a flashlight.
  • Dress in warm layers and limit time outdoors to reduce the risk of frostbite and hypothermia.
  • Check on elderly neighbors and family members.
  • Bring pets indoors.

APD will be fully staffed and ready to respond to calls for service.
