A Winter Storm Warning is in effect. 

TRAVEL ADVISORY
Travel is becoming hazardous, and residents are strongly advised to shelter in place and avoid all non-essential travel.  Conditions are continuning deteriorate quickly.

Storm Timeline & Impacts

• Snow has begun and will continue to become steadier, with heavy snowfall developing by mid-morning. 

• Peak snowfall rates of 1 inch per hour or greater are expected for several hours, producing the majority of total accumulation. 

• Sleet is expected to mix in from south to north between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM, reducing snowfall rates but creating denser, heavier accumulations that will be more difficult to remove. 

• Sleet totals may exceed 1 inch, especially south of I-78. 

• Sleet will remain steady into the evening, then trend lighter and mix with pockets of freezing rain before precipitation tapers off between 10 PM and 12 AM. 

• Periods of relative drying are possible overnight, though spotty light wintry precipitation may continue. 

• On the backside of the system, scattered snow showers may occur before the storm fully exits between 7 AM and 10 AM.

DPW UPDATE
Raritan Township DPW crews have been out since 4:45 AM to clear primary roads for E the storm. Residents are reminded to remove vehicles from Township streets and stay off the roads when possible to assist snow removal operations.
