🚨 Public Safety Advisory – Sledding in Roadways is Dangerous

With the ongoing snowstorm, residents are reminded that sledding in public roadways is extremely dangerous and strictly discouraged.

Roadways are designed for vehicles—not recreational activities. Snow-covered streets create serious hazards, including:

  • Passing or sliding vehicles that may be unable to stop in time

  • Limited visibility for drivers and plow operators

  • Hidden obstacles such as curbs, storm drains, parked cars, and ice patches

  • Risk of severe injury or worse if struck by a vehicle

Parents and guardians are strongly urged to ensure children do NOT sled in streets or roadways. Please use only designated parks, yards, or other safe open areas away from traffic.

⚠️ Important DPW Notice:
The Department of Public Works will not plow any street where children or individuals are actively sledding. This policy is necessary to protect both residents and DPW personnel. Streets must be clear of people before plowing operations can occur.

Your cooperation is essential to keep everyone safe and to allow crews to efficiently clear roadways during the storm.

Stay safe and enjoy the snow responsibly.
