On Sunday, January 25th at around 12:30 PM multiple 911 callers notified Ada County Dispatch of a shooting that occurred near the McDonalds at 195 E. Central Drive in Meridian. Witnesses reported one male subject had shot another male victim multiple times. Upon the arrival of Meridian Police and medical personnel from the Meridian Fire Department and Ada County Paramedics the male victim was deceased. The deceased was 27 years old, and their identity will be released by the Ada County Coroner’s Office at a later time.
The shooter, a 23 year old male, was still at the scene when police arrived. He was detained immediately and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is in progress. There were multiple witnesses to the incident and there are multiple sources of potential video evidence as well.
This incident was isolated in nature and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The loss of life is a tragic event, and the sensitivity of such an investigation is paramount as we conduct this investigation. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
