8:00 p.m. – South Brunswick Township Winter Storm Update

Roadway Conditions:
Since 8:00 a.m., officers have responded to 11 motor vehicle assists and 3 motor vehicle crashes. NJDOT, Middlesex County DOT, and South Brunswick Township DPW crews are working to address road conditions throughout the Township.

Travel Restrictions:
NJDOT has issued an Emergency Traffic Regulation Order that temporarily lowers all posted speed limits to 35 MPH on Interstate and State highways in New Jersey, effective 12:01 a.m. Sunday, January 25, until further notice.

The speed limit reduction applies to:
• All Interstate highways in New Jersey
• All U.S. and State highways in New Jersey
• The New Jersey Turnpike
• The Garden State Parkway
• The Atlantic City Expressway

To allow NJDOT, County, and local transportation partners to safely and efficiently clear roadways of snow, motorists should avoid driving unless they are essential employees needed for emergency response.

Weather Forecast:
As the evening progresses, freezing rain will mix in, creating icy coatings on top of existing snow and sleet. By midnight, the majority of the storm is expected to exit the area. After that, only a slight chance of light mixed precipitation or one last brief snow shower may occur early Monday. Precipitation will become more intermittent overnight.

Township Services and Closures Due to the Storm:
Due to inclement weather, all South Brunswick Township schools will be closed tomorrow. The South Brunswick Municipal Center will open at 10:30 a.m. The South Brunswick Public Library will also be closed tomorrow.

Republic Services has canceled all trash and recycling collections for Monday, January 26. Please keep all cans and bags out of and away from the roadway until the snow has stopped and plows have cleared your road. Collections will resume on Tuesday; however, delays are likely for the remainder of the week.
