Meridian Police Investigate Homicide
MERIDIAN, ID –
The following is an update to a previous release issued 1-25-26 titled Meridian Police Investigate Shooting:
Meridian Police have continually investigated the earlier reported shooting and have identified a suspect, Jacob L. Streat (23) of Nampa. STREAT has been arrested for murder in the second degree, a felony.
The investigation has revealed STREAT and the 27-year-old male victim approached each other in the parking lot of 195 E. Central Drive in Meridian. The events that transpired are still under investigation; several eyewitnesses have been or are being interviewed, and there are potentially multiple forms of video footage of the event in question.
STREAT discharged a handgun, firing more than a dozen rounds, and struck the victim multiple times. The victim was not armed. The confrontation may have been a result of a road rage situation or traffic dispute which took place on Interstate 84.
The vehicles involved in this incident are a silver 2023 Toyota Tacoma and a blue 2009 Honda Accord, which may have been traveling eastbound on Interstate 84 between Nampa and Meridian just before the incident.
