Now that the storm has passed, we would like to remind everyone of the following:

Borough Ordinance 247-17 requires sidewalks to be clear of snow and ice within 12 hours of sunlight after the snow ends. B.O. 247-17 also prohibits snow being thrown or placed in the street. 

Alternate side of the street parking is in effect and is being enforced. Having all vehicles on one side of the road allows the DPW to clear the streets of snow and more importantly it keeps the roads passable for emergency vehicles.

We have received a few calls about trash pick up. There was no trash pick up scheduled for today. The next bulk trash collection for the entire town is February 12th. 

If you have a fire hydrant on or near your property, please help clear the snow around it. This will save crucial time for our Fire Department in case of an emergency. 

Another reminder that the Borough Hall, Municipal Center, Library, Recreation Center, Senior Center and Leonia Public Schools are closed today. 

Thank you to our residents for preparing for this storm and taking precautions. We are happy to report that there were no car crashes during the storm, compared to last week when there were 10 in less than 2 hours. Thank you for staying off of the roads. 

The weather forecast is for temperatures below freezing for the next week. Please check on neighbors during these potentially dangerous conditions and be aware of icy roads and sidewalks.
