Winter Storm Update
Winter Storm Update:
The North Castle Highway Department did an amazing job clearing and treating all the roadways. However, we have already received a number of complaints regarding snow being deposited onto roadways from private snowplow operators clearing driveways, and residents digging out. Depositing of snow onto the roadway is a violation of Town Code and NY State Law, as well as creating a risk to public safety. These same laws and risks to public safety also apply to the depositing of snow onto the roadway from your vehicle. You must clear off your vehicle on your property before you enter the roadway.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our roadways clear and safe!
- Do not leave vehicles parked on the street during the overnight hours. Vehicles may be summoned, but likely TOWED if they hinder snow removal: “No vehicle shall be allowed or permitted to be parked, stored or kept unattended on any Town highway or other highway within the Town of North Castle from 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. during the period from November 15 to April 1.”
- Residents must also be aware to not allow fire hydrants to be or remain obstructed. Please ask your snow removal persons to be cognizant of this significant public safety concern.
Stay warm. Stay Safe. Look out for one another.
