01-26-2026  WINTER STORM FERN CLEAN UP, PARKING, GARBAGE SCHEDULE & FREEZING TEMPERATURE ADVISORY

Normal Tuesday Garbage Collection.  Must be out by 6:00 am.

Reminder
- Monday’s Garbage collection will be on Thursday, January 29.

DPW crews are still working to plow and salt the streets.  Due to the large snowbanks throughout town, we ask that you refrain from parking on the streets as the snowbanks restrict safe parking and narrow travel lanes.

A freezing temperature advisory continues following Winter Storm Fern. The Waldwick Police Department and Waldwick OEM urge residents to remember that with temperatures staying below freezing, any melted snow and ice will rapidly refreeze. Drive carefully and reduce your speed. Additionally, wear appropriate clothing and minimize time spent outdoors.

With the winter storm over, please remember these important cleanup and safety requirements:

  • Basketball hoops must be removed from street as they pose hazard to plowing crews and equipment. Any damage to hoops during plowing operations will not be the responsibility of the Borough.

  • Clearing of Vehicles - State law requires the removal of snow and ice from all vehicles, including the roof and hood, before driving. DO NOT CLEAR VEHICLES IN THE STREET.

  • Clearing of Sidewalks - Shoveling of sidewalks is required for the full width and including the driveway apron. Corner properties must provide access to public streets. Shoveling must be done within twenty-four (24) hours after the snow has stopped. DO NOT THROW SNOW INTO THE STREET.

  • Clearing Around Fire Hydrants - Property owners with a fire hydrant on their property must maintain a three-foot radius of the perimeter of a fire hydrant free of snow and ice so that there is no impediment to the use of the fire hydrant. The removal of snow and ice must be done within 24 hours after the snow has stopped.  The Waldwick Volunteer Fire Department urges property owners to clear ice and snow from fire hydrants.  Buried fire hydrants cause significant delays, increasing the danger and difficulty of fighting a fire.  Keep yourself and your neighbors safe by clearing fire hydrants on and around your property.

Violations for non-compliance with any of the above will be issued by the Police Department.

Thank you for cooperating with ongoing DPW cleanup operations and for helping maintain safe, accessible roads, fire hydrants and walkways in Waldwick for emergency vehicles, pedestrians, and drivers.
