The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, JANUARY 19, 2025: 
 
9:09 AM Officer Lor investigated a vehicle theft reported near Haley St & Rochelle Ave. The vehicle was left running and unattended.
 
12:53 PM Officer S. Torres conducted a pedestrian stop near Cedar Blvd & S Magazine Rd. A 43-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant and possessing narcotics, a violation of his probation terms. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
2:31 PM Officer Jackman responded to a theft reported near Mowry Ave & Alpenrose Ct. A 25-year-old male was cited for an outstanding warrant.
 
8:04 PM Officer Orozco was dispatched to a hit & run traffic collision near Lido Blvd & Jarvis Ave.
 
9:23 PM Officer Medina investigated a retail theft reported near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd.
 
9:42 PM Officer Felix conducted a traffic stop and recovered a stolen vehicle near Cherry St & Clark Ave. An 18-year-old male was cited for driving with a suspended license.
 
TUESDAY, JANUARY 20, 2025:
 
6:51 AM Officers Ansari & Herrera investigated several reports of utility pipe thefts across the city.
 
12:07 PM Officer Ansari conducted a traffic stop near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 38-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant and possession of stolen property. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail. Officers also recovered a stolen vehicle while at this location.
 
12:47 PM Traffic Officer Kapu located and recovered a stolen vehicle near Cherry St & Thornton Ave.
 
8:02 PM Officer Felix investigated a vehicle burglary on Joaquin Murieta Ave. Reported loss included a bag containing sports equipment that was taken from the trunk.
 
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 21, 2025:
 
12:35 PM Officer Shaffer conducted a security check near Ardenwood Blvd & Kaiser Dr. A 45-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics, thus violating his probation terms. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
8:14 PM Officer Benjamin responded to a hit & run traffic collision reported near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd.
 
THURSDAY, JANUARY 22, 2025:
 
12:00 AM Officer Shaffer conducted a warrant check near Cedar Court & Cedar Blvd. A 43-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
9:27 AM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau investigated a vehicle theft reported near Spruce St & Mayhews Landing Road.
 
10:38 AM Officer Pacheco performed a traffic stop near Newark Blvd & Thornton Ave. A 41-year-old male was arrested for false vehicle registration. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
2:19 PM Officer Piquette investigated a report of retail theft near Jarvis Ave & Haley St.
 
8:00 PM Officer Benjamin was dispatched to an unwanted guest reported near Balentine Dr & Mowry School Road. A 45-year-old male was arrested for public intoxication and causing a disturbance. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
FRIDAY, JANUARY 23, 2025:
 
2:00 AM Officer Cervantes was dispatched to a disturbance near Wells Ave & Locust St. A 48-year-old male was arrested for aggravated assault. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
6:49 AM Officer Piquette responded to a report of a suspicious person near Olive St & Thornton Ave. A 37-year-old male was arrested for public intoxication. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

9:32 AM Officer Pacheco responded to a report of a person with a weapon near Mowry Ave & Cherry St. A 37-year-old female was arrested for possession of narcotics. She was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
2:01 PM Officer Diaz-Perez responded to a disturbance reported near Locust St & Thornton Ave. A 33-year-old male was arrested for vandalism. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
5:23 PM Officer Diaz-Perez responded to a collision reported near Rochelle Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 34-year-old male was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
10:02 PM Officer Berlanga investigated a hit and run collision caused by driving while intoxicated near Dairy Ave & Bonnie St.
 
11:30 PM Officers were dispatched to an aggravated assault reported near Baine Ave & Cherry St.
 
SATURDAY, JANUARY 24, 2025:
 
11:20 AM Officer S. Torres responded to a disturbance reported near Newpark Mall Road & North Magazine Dr. A 34-year-old male was arrested for domestic violence. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
12:06 PM CSO Vuong investigated a theft of a bag containing a cell phone reported near Thornton Ave & Magnolia St. The phone was later recovered by the owner.
 
9:38 PM CSO Mora investigated an attempted residential burglary reported near Lafayette Ave & Cherry St. The front door was damaged, but no entry was made. 
 
SUNDAY, JANUARY 25, 2025:
 
1:37 AM Officer C. Torres investigated a vehicle burglary on Newpark Mall Road.
 
7:31 AM Officer Benjamin conducted a welfare check near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 32-year-old male was arrested for outstanding warrants and possession of narcotics. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
8:17 AM Officer Lor investigated a stolen vehicle reported near Birch St & Moores Ave.
 
9:25 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a window smash vehicle burglary reported near Buena Vista & Potrero Drive. Reported losses included several personal clothing items.
 
12:01 PM Officer Lor performed a pedestrian stop in the area of Cedar Blvd & Smith Ave. A 67-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
8:12 PM Officer Berlanga responded to a robbery reported near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd.
