Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help in identifying the male suspect pictured below in connection with a shooting that occurred on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
At approximately 10:11 a.m., Police responded to Hawthorne Avenue near Elizabeth Avenue on a call of shots fired. Responding Officers did not locate any victims nor any property damage related to gunfire. Police did locate six spent shell casings in the area, however. Surveillance footage also captured a male suspect who parked and exited a white GMC SUV in the area. The suspect was also seen in possession of a rifle-style firearm.
