For Immediate Release: January 28, 2026
OPD News:

We want to provide you with an update on Tuesday’s incident in the 3400 block of Webster Street.

As stated, San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) Officers attempted to stop a suspect wanted on a warrant in the 800 block of 47th Street in Oakland. During the attempt, the suspect drove onto the sidewalk, striking and injuring the SFPD officer.

SFPD requested assistance from the Oakland Police Department (OPD). OPD’s helicopter ARGUS located the suspect vehicle in East Oakland. Officers onboard ARGUS monitored and directed OPD patrol officers on the ground to the suspect vehicle. The officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver did not comply, and the vehicle continued.

Just before 4:30 p.m., one of the suspects in the suspect vehicle attempted a carjacking but was unsuccessful. The suspect vehicle continued to the 3400 block of Webster Street, where the suspects collided with an OPD fully marked patrol vehicle. Two suspects exited the vehicle and ran. OPD officers arrested both suspects.

During the arrest, an officer discharged their firearm. However, the gunfire struck no one, and no injuries were reported.

Two firearms were recovered in the area and are believed to have been discarded by the suspects.

Consistent with OPD policy, the discharge of the firearm is being investigated by the Oakland Police Department. The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office and the Community Police Review Agency (CPRA) are conducting independent investigations.
