UPDATE- The early morning threat received at Redwood High School has been safely resolved without injury or incident.
Earlier this morning at approximately 8am, the Central Marin Police received a call from the staff at Redwood High School advising of a possible threat to the school. Staff advised that an unknown caller left a recorded voice mail message indicating that they were driving to Redwood with a gun and a bomb. Officers immediately responded to the school, sent officers into the school, and established a high visibility perimeter around the campus. Within minutes officers coordinated with district administration to begin evacuating the students that were already on campus.
With the assistance of our local partners from the Tamalpais Union High School District, Redwood High School, the Central Marin Fire Department, and the Marin County Sheriff's Office, we were able to evacuate the campus in a matter of minutes without injury or incident.
The Central Marin Police conducted an extensive search of the entire Redwood High School campus and determined the campus is safe and no threat exists to the safety of the students or staff.
The Central Marin Police take these types of threats very seriously and worked collaboratively to ensure the safety of everyone on campus this morning. We recognize how frightening these events are for our residents and school community and stand alongside you to ensure the safety of our children, schools and communities.
The Central Marin Police would like to extend our gratitude to the Tamalpais Union High School District, Redwood High School, the Central Marin Fire Department, and the Marin County Sheriff's Office for their partnership and resources in resolving this incident.
The Central Marin Police is currently investigating this criminal threat and following up on leads. When located, the suspect/s responsible will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
