Overnight snow removal this weekend; Move your vehicle
The City of Hoboken and the Division of Public Works (DPW) will begin overnight snow removal operations on City streets beginning Sunday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m. All vehicles parked on Bloomfield Street between Observer Highway and 14th Street MUST be moved by 6 p.m. Sunday night. Bloomfield Street will re-open for parking on a rolling basis as each block is cleared of snow. Overnight snow removal operations on Bloomfield Street are anticipated to end by 7 a.m. Monday.
Anyone with a Resident On-Street Parking Permit can take advantage of the City’s discounted overnight rate of $6, which is valid from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. in Municipal Garage B, Garage D, and the Midtown Garage.
Overnight snow removal operations will enable the City to pick up and transport snow to the City’s stockpile more efficiently, covering more blocks while minimizing traffic impacts.
Please note that snow removal operations involve heavy equipment and dump trucks, which will cause noise. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as crews work to clear the parking lanes of snow.
Additionally, please plan for intermittent road closures throughout the City over the next few days, as public works crews continue to remove snow from curbs and crosswalks.
Keep travel lanes clear; Report untreated property
As residents shovel out their vehicles, please do not shovel snow onto the sidewalk or back into the streets.
The City and Office of Emergency Management (OEM) also remind drivers to park only in legal parking spaces, as close to the curb as possible, and ask all residents to keep travel lanes, corners, and crosswalks clear of parked and double-parked cars. This will allow first responders and emergency services to operate safely. Vehicles parked illegally, including those blocking the roadway or pedestrian areas, are subject to ticketing and towing.
City public works crews and contractors continue to remove snow on public properties and crosswalks. As mentioned above, this may cause temporary and intermittent road closures. Property owners are responsible for clearing snow and ice from the sidewalks, curb cuts, and curb ramps adjacent to their property. Property owners who do not do so are subject to fines between $250 and $2,000 if they do not do so.
Those who wish to report any unshoveled or untreated properties, can email [email protected].
Suspensions & Cancellations
Street cleaning is suspended on Friday, Jan. 30.
The first floor of the Multi-Service Center will remain closed tomorrow due to a failing HVAC system. Until further notice, the Office of Vital Statistics will operate on the second floor, and the Rent Control Office and Office of Senior Services are remote. Senior programing is cancelled until further notice.
