Deputy Tre Spearman with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 53-year-old Samantha Rae Lowery of Marion with (2 counts) felony Possession of Methamphetamine and misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was given a secured bond of $15,000.
Additionally, 56-year-old Brian Berry Wesley of Marion was charged with (2 counts) felony Possession of Methamphetamine, felony Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, felony Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance, misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and misdemeanor Driving While License Revoked. He was given a secured bond of $20,000.
On Wednesday, Jan. 14, Deputy Spearman initiated a vehicle stop on Berry and Lowery for traffic violations. At that time, it was discovered that Berry, the driver, and Lowery, a passenger, both had active warrants for their arrest, taken out by MCSO Lieutenant David Jones for a December 2025 incident.
A subsequent search of the vehicle by deputies and MCSO K9 Rambo turned up suspected amounts of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Berry was also found to be in possession of a suspected amount of fentanyl.
