Lead Service Replacement Program
Fir & Elm Street Neighborhoods
Please be advised that the City of East Chicago, Indiana is continuing its 2025–2026 Lead Service Line Replacement Program. At this time, work is focused on the 3700 through 4000 blocks of Fir Street and Elm Street. The awarded contractor for this project is Hasse Construction Company, and construction will continue until available funding has been depleted. Please note that work has and may continue to be temporarily delayed due to inclement weather conditions. However, be assured that the contractor is working diligently and as efficiently as possible to complete improvements within your neighborhood.
Additionally, our goal is to keep city streets clean, safe, and free of debris throughout the duration of the project. To ensure a thorough and efficient construction and cleaning process, we ask for residents’ full cooperation. Remain observant and comply with any temporary signage (such as “No Parking” or other posted notices) that indicates parking restrictions or changes on your street.
We understand that this work may cause temporary inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a healthy and clean neighborhood.
