Kick Off Super Bowl LX with a Go Safely Game Plan

Chino Hills, California – As the excitement builds for Super Bowl LX, The Chino Hills Police Department reminds football fans to intercept impaired driving if they’re heading out to a Super Bowl party and plan on drinking. Make sure you stick to the “Go Safely” game plan and choose a sober way to go.

On Super Bowl LX Sunday (February 8th), Chino Hills Police will have additional officers on patrol looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

“Let's make sure Super Bowl Sunday is remembered for great plays on the field, not for unnecessary risks on the road,” said Deputy Daniel Hernandez. “Before you grab a drink, plan ahead for a sober designated driver. Choosing a safer way to go is a win-win for everyone.”

The Chino Hills Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Always follow directions for use and read warning labels about driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.

Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
