INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Oak Glen Road / Chapman Heights Road, Yucaipa
INVOLVED PARTY: Wyatt Schaaf, 24-year-old, Resident of Beaumont
SUMMARY: On Friday, January 30, 2026, at approximately 11:34 a.m., deputies from the Yucaipa Police Department along with rescue personnel from Yucaipa Fire Department and American Medical Response, responded to a call for service reference a motorcycle and vehicle collision near the intersection of Oak Glen Road and Chapman Heights Road.
Upon arrival, it was apparent the motorcyclist, Wyatt Schaaf, sustained major injuries from the collision and was transported by ambulance to Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition. He was later pronounced deceased by medical personnel at Loma Linda Univeristy Medical Center.
Through investigation, it was determined a motorist traveled west on Oak Glen Road and turned south on Chapman Heights Road in front of Schaaf, who traveled east on Oak Glen Rd. It is unclear at this time if speed was a contributing factor in this collision. The other motorist remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
Deputies with the Yucaipa Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) responded and assumed the investigation. The westbound and eastbound lanes of Oak Glen Road remained closed for several hours while deputies conducted their investigation. The roadway was reopened at 2:30 p.m.
