An Extreme Cold Warning is in effect from 7:00 PM this evening until 10:00 AM Sunday. Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 5 below zero are expected, which could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken. Frostbite and hypothermia may occur quickly if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Dress in layers, including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. To prevent water pipes from freezing, wrap or drain exposed pipes or allow faucets to drip slowly. Make frequent checks on older family members, friends, and neighbors, and ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills indoors. Pets and livestock should be brought inside or provided adequate shelter and protection from the cold.
