| An adult male subject was the victim of a homicide in the city of Camarillo On 01/31/26, at approximately 11:46 a.m., units from the Camarillo Police Department responded to a call of a shooting that had just occurred in the 400 block of Walker Ave in Camarillo. Upon arriving on scene, patrol deputies located an adult male subject suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies began conducting life saving measures prior to relinquishing medical treatment to the Ventura County Fire Department. Despite the actions of law enforcement and fire personnel, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Sheriff’s patrol personnel located the suspect vehicle and attempted an enforcement stop. The suspect failed to yield and a pursuit occurred, traveling southbound on 101 freeway. The California Highway Patrol was getting in position to take over the pursuit; however, patrol personnel lost visual of the vehicle while it was traveling more than 100 miles per hour. Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department located the suspect vehicle traveling southbound on the 405 freeway. The suspect eventually yielded and sometime after stopping, took his own life while inside the vehicle. Sheriff’s Major Crimes is on scene and actively investigating this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call (805) 654-9511. At this time, this appears to be an isolated incident, with no on-going threat to the public. The identities of the parties involved are not being released at this time, pending notification of family members. |
