Sheriff’s Deputy shooting involving carjacking suspects just occurred. SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN
Earlier tonight, a citizen was carjacked at gunpoint while at a gas station located at Rex Road and Highway 42. The suspects pointed a gun at the victim’s head and fled the scene in her vehicle.
Clayton County law enforcement searched the area and, approximately 30 minutes later, located the vehicle on Fielder Road. A traffic stop was initiated; however, the vehicle refused to stop and fled from deputies.
The pursuit ended on a dead-end street, where two suspects fled from the vehicle.
One suspect was tased, and the other was shot. Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to nearby hospitals, where they were reported to be conscious and breathing.
Per standard protocol for deputy-involved shootings, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was notified. Additionally, the Georgia State Patrol was notified due to the use of the deputy’s Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT).
