Three (3) Arrested and 21 Citations Issued at the Redwood City DUI Checkpoint
Redwood City, California – On 1/30/2026, and 1/31/2026 there was one (1) person arrested for an outstanding DUI warrant and suspended driver license, one (1) person was arrested for resisting/delaying/obstructing police officers when they tried to drive through the checkpoint, and one (1) person was arrested for driving on the wrong side of highway at the DUI checkpoints.
The DUI checkpoints were held at El Camino Real at Carlos St from 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Woodside Rd at Bay Rd from 11:30 p.m. to 01:30 a.m.
17 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed, 4 other drivers were cited for various moving violations. There were approximately 400 vehicles contacted/screened between both checkpoints.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of the DUI checkpoint is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Cannabis Grant Program.
