Traffic Stop Leads to Gun Arrest in Hollister
HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – February 2, 2026 - Hollister Police arrest a subject for multiple weapons violations following a traffic stop.
On February 1st, 2026, approximately 2:47 pm, Officer Gorman stopped a vehicle in the 1300 block of Black Forest Drive for mechanical violations including emissions and engine modifications. During the stop, the driver was detained and Officer Gorman developed probable cause to search the vehicle.
It was during that search that Officer Gorman located a loaded, unregistered, firearm concealed in the passenger compartment of the vehicle along with three loaded high-capacity magazines.
The driver, Juan Guzman (22) of Hollister, was arrested and charged with multiple crimes including being a felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and other weapon related offenses. The driver was transported to the San Benito County Jail where it was discovered that Guzman had suspected cocaine concealed in his wallet. An additional charge of bringing drugs into a jail facility was added to Guzman for that violation.
Special thanks to Officer Gorman for getting an illegal weapon off the streets as part of our department goal to make Hollister safer.
