Special Weather Statement until 05:00AM Tuesday
A band of snow will slide into portions of LaSalle, Grundy, southern Will, and Kankakee counties early this morning. The most intense portion of the band of snow is very narrow, only 5 to 10 miles wide, and will track along an axis from Troy Grove to Ottawa, Seneca, Coal City, Kankakee, and Hopkins Park, including portions of Interstate 39, 80, 55, and 57. Snow will fall for several hours beneath the band, and end toward daybreak. Snow rates up to one inch per hour will reduce visibility below one quarter of a mile, and lead to quick accumulations of snow on roadways. Localized snow totals of 1 to 4 inches are expected within the narrow band. Since the band of snow is so narrow, road conditions will change rapidly across the area. Motorist are encouraged to prepare for rapidly changing visibilities and road conditions when traveling across the area early this morning.
