UPDATE:
This afternoon, the #WalkforPeace will enter the Town limits. Ashland Police Officers along with Hanover County Sheriff's Office Deputies will be assisting with this walk.
There will be delays and traffic backups. They will travel through Town and end at Randolph-Macon College.

The Buddhist Monk #WalkForPeace is expected to come through Ashland on February 3, 2026. The Walk for Peace started in Fort Worth, Texas and will end in Washington DC ending their 120-day journey. Their goal is to raise awareness of inner peace and mindfulness across America and the world.
Expect traffic delays on Route 1 north. They will be walking in the right lane with escort vehicles. Law enforcement will be assisting them through intersections and on the roadways. Motorists familiar with our area should find alternate routes.
Please help us keep everyone safe by driving carefully and cautiously.
