YEAR-TO-DATE CRIME HIGHLIGHTS

Residential Burglary Arrest – Darrell Road

On January 31, 2026, officers responded to an alarm activation involving multiple access points at a residence on the 800 block of Darrell Road. With assistance from Burlingame PD (K-9) and South San Francisco PD (drone and officers), a perimeter was established.

The suspect falsely claimed to be a real estate agent but ultimately surrendered and was taken into custody. A search revealed burglary tools, receipts, and extensive research documents detailing how to burglarize the specific residence. The suspect was booked into San Mateo County Jail and charges were filed with the District Attorney.

Vehicle Theft Investigation
On January 14, 2026, an unlocked Audi SUV with keys inside was stolen from a driveway. Investigators determined suspects used a previously stolen Mercedes from Burlingame to travel to Hillsborough. Both vehicles were later recovered abandoned in Oakland. The investigation remains ongoing, with search warrants being pursued.

Sexual Assault Case Update
A cold sexual assault case from 2007–2008 was reopened in 2024. HPD investigators worked with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and FBI Phoenix Division to arrest the suspect in Arizona.

On January 28, 2026, the case was transferred from Juvenile Court to Adult Court. The suspect now faces potential sentences totaling hundreds of years in state prison.
