The San Mateo Police Department is hiring a Police Dispatcher.
If you stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and can manage multiple tasks at once, this is a career where your work has a real impact every day. Dispatchers are the critical link between the community and officers in the field, coordinating responses and helping keep San Mateo safe.
What to know:
• Continuous recruitment until the position is filled
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Telephone or dispatch experience is a plus
• Must complete the POST Entry-Level Dispatcher Test or CritiCall
• Ability to obtain a POST Dispatcher Certificate during employment
• Must pass background, medical, polygraph, and psychological evaluations
Schedule:
• 12-hour shifts
• Fixed team schedules covering days, swings, and nights
Both entry-level and lateral candidates are encouraged to apply. There is a $15k hiring bonus for laterals. Salary ranges from $108,094 (Step 1) to $128,819 (Top Step) annually.
