Press Release re Bonita High School 
At approximately 7:15 a.m., the La Verne Police Department received a call from an unidentified individual who made threats of violence toward the school campus at Bonita High School. As a precaution, school officials initiated a campus lockdown while officers responded to investigate.
Officers arrived quickly and conducted a thorough safety check of the campus. The investigation determined there was no immediate threat to students or staff, and the lockdown was lifted.
At approximately 8:10 a.m., the Bonita High School office received a second call from an unidentified individual making another threat of violence toward the campus. It is currently unknown whether the second call was made by the same individual or if the calls were coordinated. As a precaution, the school initiated a second lockdown.
La Verne Officers, with the assistance of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, immediately conducted additional safety checks and again confirmed the campus was safe. The second threat was also determined to be non-credible, and the lockdown was lifted.
Officers will remain present on and around the campus as a precautionary measure. Additional patrol checks are being conducted at all schools within the city to ensure the continued safety of students, staff, and faculty.
During the same time as the school incident, officers also responded to a traffic collision to the front of Trader Joe’s at 2330 Foothill Blvd. This location is near the high school and rumors circulated implying the collision was associated with the high school incident. The collision was investigated and is not related to the school threats.
The investigation into the source of the calls is ongoing.
