Snow removal occurs on Clinton St. tonight; Overnight discounted garage parking available; Street cleaning suspended for the rest of week
Key items in this update:
- Overnight snow removal of Clinton Street Wednesday night into Thursday morning
- All vehicles must be moved from Clinton Street
- Discounted overnight parking offered from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.
- City has suspended street cleaning enforcement for the remainder of the week
All vehicles parked on Clinton Street between Newark and 14th Streets MUST move by 6 p.m. tonight, Feb. 4, to allow for overnight snow removal. Overnight snow removal operations will enable the City to pick up and transport snow to the City’s stockpile more efficiently, covering more blocks while minimizing traffic impacts. Additionally, it allows drivers to move their vehicles to better effectuate snow removal operations by allowing them to park in municipal garages at a discount (see below).
Temporary No Parking signs have been posted, and those who do not move their vehicles will be subject to ticketing and towing.
Drivers are advised to anticipate intermittent rolling closures of Clinton Street throughout the night as snow removal operations occur. Hoboken Police Officers will be on site to assist with detours. Clinton Street will re-open on a rolling basis as each block is cleared of snow, allowing cars to park on the street as soon as the block is cleared.
Overnight snow removal operations are anticipated to end by 7 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5.
Please be reminded that snow removal operations involve large heavy equipment, including plows, payloaders, and dump trucks, which will cause noise. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as crews work to clear the parking lanes of snow.
Street cleaning restrictions lifted this week
Based on community feedback, the City has suspended street cleaning enforcement until additional overnight snow removal is completed. At this time, the City anticipates street cleaning to resume next Monday, Feb. 9. When it resumes, more parking lanes will have been cleared for residents who will need to move their cars for street cleaning.
Community members are asked to please continue to dig out and move their vehicles to avoid impeding snow removal operations and being subject to a fine. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Keep travel lanes clear; Report untreated property
As residents shovel out their vehicles, please do not shovel snow onto the sidewalk or back into the streets.
The City and Office of Emergency Management (OEM) also remind drivers to park only in legal parking spaces, as close to the curb as possible, and ask all residents to keep travel lanes, corners, and crosswalks clear of parked and double-parked cars. This will allow first responders and emergency services to operate safely. Vehicles parked illegally, including those blocking the roadway or pedestrian areas, are subject to ticketing and towing.
Property owners are responsible for clearing snow and ice from the sidewalks, curb cuts, and curb ramps adjacent to their property. Property owners who do not do so are subject to fines between $250 and $2,000 if they do not do so.
Those who wish to report any unshoveled or untreated properties, can email [email protected].
