Arrest Made in Historic Child Sexual Assault Case

HILLSBOROUGH, Calif.: The Hillsborough Police Department (HPD) has arrested and extradited Andrew Hosking, a resident of Phoenix, Arizona, following an investigation into historic allegations of child sexual assault. Because some of the alleged offenses occurred when Hosking was under 18, the case initially proceeded in the San Mateo County Juvenile Court.

In June 2024, HPD initiated an investigation after receiving reports of past sexual assaults involving a child who was eight years old at the time. The reported assaults began in 2007 in the Town of Hillsborough and continued over several years. The last reported assault involving this victim occurred in 2015.

Investigators developed information indicating the reported assaults extended to other locations, including the state of Hawaii. As the investigation progressed, HPD Inspectors identified a second victim who reported being sexually assaulted by Hosking in the City of San Francisco in 2010, when the victim was four years of age.

Through continued follow-up, additional victims were identified. Inspectors obtained statements from multiple victims and other parties, along with additional evidence related to the reported assaults.

Based on the information developed during the investigation, the San Mateo County Juvenile Court issued an arrest warrant for Hosking on April 24, 2025. A Governor’s Warrant was subsequently obtained, and on July 17, 2025, HPD Inspectors traveled to Phoenix and coordinated with the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to take Hosking into custody. He was arrested outside his residence and later extradited to California, where he was placed in the custody of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

On January 28, 2026, Hosking’s case was transferred to adult court in San Mateo County. Hosking will be tried as an adult for 14 counts of Penal Code Section 288(b)(1) (Forcible Lewd Acts Upon a Child) and one count of Penal Code Section 286(c)(2) (Sodomy by Force).

HPD Inspectors believe there may be additional victims who have not yet been identified. HPD understands that coming forward can be extremely difficult, especially when time has passed, and we want the community to know these reports are taken seriously and handled with care and professionalism.
