Snow removal to occur on Madison Street tonight; Move vehicles by 6 p.m.; Street cleaning suspended tomorrow
Key items in this update:
- Overnight snow removal of Madison Street Thursday night into Friday morning
- All vehicles must be moved from Madison Street by 6 p.m.
- Discounted overnight parking offered from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.
- Street cleaning enforcement is suspended this week
- Daytime snow removal on Castle Point Terrace next week
All vehicles parked on Madison Street between Newark and 15th Streets MUST move by 6 p.m. tonight, Feb. 5, to allow for overnight snow removal.
Temporary No Parking signs have been posted, and those who do not move their vehicles are subject to ticketing and towing.
Drivers are advised to anticipate intermittent rolling closures of Madison Street throughout the night as snow removal operations occur. Hoboken Police Officers will be on site to assist with detours. Madison Street will re-open on a rolling basis as each block is cleared of snow, allowing cars to park on the street as soon as the block is cleared.
Overnight snow removal operations enable the City to pick up and transport snow to the stockpile more efficiently, by covering more blocks while minimizing traffic impacts. Additionally, it makes it easier for drivers to move cars off streets by parking in municipal garages at a discount (see below), helping crews fully clear streets.
Overnight snow removal operations are anticipated to end by 7 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 6.
Please be reminded that snow removal operations involve large heavy equipment, including plows, payloaders, and dump trucks, which will cause noise. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as crews work to clear the parking lanes of snow.
Additional daytime snow removal operations announced
On Monday, Feb. 9, Hoboken DPW crews will be conducting daytime snow removal on Castle Point Terrace between the Eighth and Tenth Streets.
Temporary No Parking signs will be posted on both sides of the street, and they will be in effect between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Those who do not move their vehicles are subject to ticket and towing.
Street cleaning restrictions lifted this week
The City has suspended street cleaning enforcement for the remainder of this week.
Community members are asked to please continue to dig out and move their vehicles to avoid impeding snow removal operations. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Keep travel lanes clear; Report untreated property
As residents shovel out their vehicles, please do not shovel snow onto the sidewalk or back into the streets.
The City and Office of Emergency Management (OEM) also remind drivers to park only in legal parking spaces, as close to the curb as possible, and ask all residents to keep travel lanes, corners, and crosswalks clear of parked and double-parked cars. This will allow first responders and emergency services to operate safely. Vehicles parked illegally, including those blocking the roadway or pedestrian areas, are subject to ticketing and towing.
Property owners are responsible for clearing snow and ice from the sidewalks, curb cuts, and curb ramps adjacent to their property. Property owners who do not do so are subject to fines between $250 and $2,000 if they do not do so.
Those who wish to report any unshoveled or untreated properties, can email [email protected].
