UPDATE: Subject Arrested for Unlawful Use of a Weapon
 
On February 7, 2026, at about 7:45 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Ferntop and Ferngate. A pedestrian flagged the officer down and reported that they had just fled from a home in the 12900 block of Ferntop, where a man had threatened them and other occupants in the home with a pistol.
 
Officers responded to the area, secured the scene, and restricted pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the area to maintain the safety of the public.  
 
Our investigation found that a subject inside the home had threatened two occupants, flourished a handgun at them, and then both of them escaped. Everyone safely exited the home, but the subject who threatened the occupants refused the officer’s requests to exit the home.   
 
After some time, the subject willingly exited the home. The man was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest. He is currently in custody, and the charges are being referred to the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration.  
 
There were no injuries to anyone. Officers and Detectives are still on scene investigating.

Officers are currently blocking pedestrian and vehicle traffic from the area to:

• ensure the safety of residents in the surrounding area
