Sheriff Clint Roach reports that deputies of the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a three-vehicle crash on M-51 near Pennsylvania Street in Pokagon Township, Cass County Michigan. The crash occurred at approximately 0830 A.m. on 02/07/2026. The investigation showed that a vehicle driven by Robert Ackerman II (64 years old from Niles, MI) was heading southwest on M-51 when he had a medical issue, causing him to drive off the road and collide with two unoccupied parked vehicles. Ackerman went by SMCAS Ambulance to Corewell Niles Hospital. The Pokagon Tribal Police and Pokagon Township Fire Department assisted at the scene of the crash. Ackerman was wearing his seatbelt.
