Subject Arrested after Attempted Carjacking
On Saturday, February 7, 2026, at approximately 2:00 PM, the Petaluma Police Department Dispatch Center received reports of a subject attempting to open the doors of occupied vehicles in the area of South McDowell Boulevard and McKenzie Avenue.
Officers were provided a description of the suspect and quickly located him in the area. The subject was identified as David Bowen Farwell (39-year-old Guerneville resident). A records check revealed Bowen Farwell was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for a previous assault with a deadly weapon case.
Officers determined Bowen Farwell attempted to enter a vehicle in what appeared to be an effort to steal the vehicle while it was occupied. The victim vehicle was stopped in traffic when Bowen Farwell attempted but was unable to enter the vehicle. Additionally, officers determined Bowen Farwell was under the influence of a controlled substance.
Bowen Farwell was arrested and transported to the Sonoma County Jail for the following charges:
- 664/215 PC – Attempted Carjacking
- 3455 PC – Violation of PRCS
- 11550 H&S – Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
