Wilmington Police arrest two men in connection to May 2025 fatal shooting incident:

Wilmington Police have arrested two men in connection to a May 2025 fatal shooting incident following an investigation.

On May 8th, 2025 at approximately 6:46 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 800 block of East 22nd Street in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, officers located a gunshot victim- 22-year-old Jahmir Johnson, who was transported to the hospital in critical condition, and later succumbed to his injuries. Officers also located a 10-year-old female gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Officers located another 20-year-old female gunshot victim who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

The case was assigned to Detective Joseph Wicks of the Criminal Investigation Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Wicks identified 20-year-old Rasheed Earl and 21-year-old Darien Harden as the suspects. On February 2nd 2026, the case was presented to the New Castle County Grand Jury and an indictment was returned for both Earl and Harden. Both Earl and Harden are currently being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on unrelated charges.

Earl has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Murder (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony- Four Counts
  • Assault (Second Degree)- Two Counts
  • Reckless Endangering (Second Degree)
  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
  • Conspiracy (First Degree)
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Superior Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $3,200,000 cash-only bail.

Harden has been charged with the following offenses:
  • Receiving Stolen Property Value Over $1,500 – Two Counts
  • Theft Under $1,500
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Superior Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution pending further proceedings.
