Overnight snow removal on Garden Street tonight

All vehicles parked on Garden Street between 14th Street and Observer Highway MUST move by 6 p.m. tonight, Feb. 9, to allow for overnight snow removal. 

Temporary No Parking signs have been posted, and those who do not move their vehicles are subject to ticketing and towing. Overnight snow removal operations are expected to end by 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Drivers are advised to anticipate intermittent rolling closures of Garden Street throughout the night. Officers with the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department will be on site to assist with detours. 

Garden Street will re-open on a rolling basis as each block is cleared of snow, allowing cars to park on the street as soon as the block is cleared.  

Please be reminded that snow removal involves large equipment, including plows, payloaders, and dump trucks, which will cause noise. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as crews work to clear the parking lanes of snow.  

The following is the upcoming overnight snow removal schedule:   

• TONIGHT, Feb. 9: Garden Street from 14th Street to Observer Highway
• Tuesday, Feb. 10: Park Avenue from Observer Highway to 14th Street
• Wednesday, Feb. 11: Jefferson Street from Newark Street to 15th Street  
• Thursday, Feb. 12: Adams Street from Newark Street to 15th Street   

All vehicles must be removed from impacted routes, starting at 6 p.m.

Be advised that all schedules are subject to change and any additional schedule updates will be announced via Nixle.   

Discounted parking available tonight

As a reminder, Resident On-Street Parking Permit holders can park in Municipal Garage B (28 Second St.) and the Midtown Garage (371 Fourth St.) at the discounted overnight rate of $6 between the hours of 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. Please note, garage parking is first come, first served.  

Street cleaning suspended Tuesday

The City has suspended street cleaning enforcement on Tuesday.

Community members are asked to please continue to dig out and move their vehicles to avoid impeding snow removal operations. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
