Head of the Bay Traffic alert: 1-lane at Eagle Harbor Dr/Wyatt Way Temp signals live Feb 10. Expect delays. Plan extra travel time.
Traffic Alert for the Head of the Bay: Temporary traffic signals have been installed today at Eagle Harbor Drive/Wyatt Way. Signals will be tested tonight and tomorrow. Traffic has been reduced to one-lane until the end of March.
Signals are expected to be fully operational by 6 p.m. on Feb. 10.
City staff will be on site monitoring signal operations and working with the contractor to make any needed adjustments.
What drivers need to know now
• 24-hour one-lane traffic is in place until the end of March
• Flaggers are directing traffic during work hours
• Temporary signals will operate after hours
• Expect delays. Plan extra travel time or use alternate routes until the end of March.
The City has notificed partner agencies including school district, fire department, Kitsap Transit, and others.
Why one lane is required
Crews need full work space to pour and cure new concrete curbing on both sides of the roadway. The narrow roadway, plus nearby shorelines, wetlands, and steep slopes, limit options for maintaining two-way traffic during construction.
Why this work is happening
Three major projects are being completed together to shorten overall impacts:
• Cooper Creek Fish Passage (almost complete)
• Wyatt Way Water Main Replacement
• Eagle Harbor / Wyatt Non-Motorized Improvements
Combined construction reduces impacts from potentially two years to less than one year total.
Construction is moving faster than expected
Because this winter has been mild, crews have not needed a winter construction break. The timeline has improved from a summer 2026 completion to an anticipated spring 2026 finish, helping clear the roadway ahead of summer travel and increased regional visitor traffic.
Thank you for your patience as this critical safety, environmental, and infrastructure work continues.
