Gloucester Township Police Department Receives National Recognition for 2025 National Night Out Event
The Gloucester Township Police Department is excited to announce that Gloucester Township, New Jersey was ranked 1st overall in New Jersey and 2nd overall in the United States for participation in the 2025 National Night Out, in the population category of 50,000–100,000, in association with the National Association of Town Watch.
We extend our sincere THANK YOU to all participating residents, community partners, and sponsors who joined us for this outstanding community event and helped make this achievement possible. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie, making our neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live. The event strengthens the relationship between residents and law enforcement while fostering a true sense of community.
On National Night Out, August 5, 2025, residents throughout Gloucester Township were encouraged to lock their doors, turn on their outside lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Many Neighborhood Watch groups, local businesses, and homeowners associations hosted a variety of special events, including block parties, cookouts, carnivals, dessert tastings, barbecues, and pool parties.
Attending these special events were McGruff the Crime Dog and his nephew Scruff, Gloucester Township Police officers, the Mayor and Council, and Inspira EMS. Public locations throughout Gloucester Township included Blackwood Fire Company, Erial Fire Company, and the Gloucester Premium Outlets.
Chief Minosse stated,
“Being recognized once again for our National Night Out efforts is an honor, but what matters most is what these events represent for Gloucester Township. National Night Out brings together neighbors, families, and all of our emergency services in positive and welcoming spaces throughout our community. While it strengthens trust and encourages connection, it also reminds us that a safer and stronger community begins with meaningful relationships.”
Mayor David Mayer stated,
“Placing second in the nation and first in New Jersey is a tremendous honor and a testament to the strength of our community. National Night Out reflects what Gloucester Township does best—bringing residents, public safety professionals, and community partners together to build trust, foster relationships, and keep our neighborhoods safe. I am incredibly proud of everyone who helps make these events meaningful and successful year after year.”
Please save the date for the 2026 National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
