The Byram Township Board of Education is accepting recommendations for qualified candidates to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:
To become a member of a local board of education in New Jersey you must:
· Be a citizen of the United States of America;
· Be at least 18 years of age;
· Be able to read and write;
· Be a resident of Byram Township for at least one (1) year preceding the date of appointment;
· Have no direct/indirect interest in any contract with, or claim against, the Board;
· Not hold office as mayor or member of the municipal governing body;
· Be registered to vote and not be disqualified as a voter under N.J.S.A. 19:4-1; and
· Satisfy a criminal history background check pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:12-1.

Candidates for the vacancy will be interviewed at a Meeting of the Board to be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at The STEAM Lab in Byram Lakes Elementary School, 11 Mansfield Drive, Stanhope, NJ 07874.
The Board intends to take action to fill the vacancy.
