SUBJECT: Suspicious Circumstance
 
LOCATION: Duane Street & Harrison Avenue, Redwood City
 
DATE/TIME: February 10, 2026, approximately 3:20 P.M.
 
On February 11, 2026, the Redwood City Police Department received a report of suspicious circumstances involving a juvenile that occurred the previous day near the intersection of Duane Street and Harrison Street.
 
The reporting party, a 13-year-old female, stated that at approximately 3:20 PM, shortly after school dismissal, she was standing at the corner when a gray sedan drove past her, made a U-turn, and stopped in front of her. The driver, described only as a Hispanic male adult in his twenties, rolled down his window and asked her where downtown Redwood City was located.
 
After she pointed in the direction of downtown, the driver asked for her phone number. She declined. He then asked for her name, and she again declined. The driver subsequently left the area in an unknown direction.
 
The juvenile later informed her father, who contacted the school. The school notified the Redwood City Police Department.
 
Officers conducted an initial canvass of the area but were unable to locate surveillance footage at this time. The investigation remains active.
 
The Redwood City Police Department commends the young girl who reported this incident and encourages parents and guardians to speak with their children about safe interactions with strangers. While not every interaction with an unknown person is criminal in nature, juveniles should be reminded not to share personal information and to disengage from situations that make them uncomfortable.
 
We also encourage community members to report concerning activity as soon as they feel comfortable doing so. Early reporting helps officers respond quickly and gather important information.
