Trinity County Burn Ban In Effect
Today, February 13, 2026, the Trinity County Commissioners Court issued an Order Prohibiting Outdoor Burning for all unincorporated areas of Trinity County due to current conditions creating a public safety hazard and increased wildfire risk.
What this means:
No outdoor burning such as brush piles, trash piles, or land clearing fires. What IS allowed (with safety precautions):
Household trash may be burned ONLY inside a burn barrel or above-ground enclosure that: • Has a screen cover • An adult (18+) is present at all times • A water source is within 10 feet
Outdoor cooking in contained grills or fire pits is allowed if a water source is nearby.
All coals and ashes must be completely extinguished with water. Important: Violation of this order is a Class C misdemeanor and can result in a fine up to $500. These restrictions are in place to protect lives, homes, property, and our volunteer firefighters. With dry conditions and wind, even a small fire can quickly become a major wildfire. Please do your part and help keep Trinity County safe. If you see a wildfire or out-of-control burn, call 911 immediately.
