Domestic Violence Call Leads to Freeway Pursuit and Arrest
On February 12, 2026, at approximately 7:44 p.m., officers responded to a report of a possible domestic violence incident in progress in the 5300 block of Cochran Street. The reporting party stated they believed a female neighbor was being assaulted by her boyfriend and could hear her screaming.
As officers arrived in the area, they attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle associated with the call. The vehicle failed to yield and entered the westbound 118 Freeway, prompting a pursuit. Officers temporarily lost sight of the vehicle but later located it in the Vons parking lot at 1855 Cochran Street.
Officers located the suspect, 40-year-old Robert Carrier, a resident of Simi Valley, as he attempted to leave the area on foot. It was later determined the suspect vehicle had collided with a signal pole while exiting the 118 Freeway. Due to the collision occurring on the freeway off-ramp, the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
Carrier was taken into custody and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail on the following charges:
