Overnight snow removal on Willow Avenue tonight
All vehicles parked on Willow Avenue between Observer Highway and 16th Street, MUST move by 6 p.m. tonight, Sunday, Feb. 15, to allow for overnight snow removal.
Temporary No Parking signs have been posted, and those who do not move their vehicles are subject to ticketing and towing. Overnight snow removal operations on Willow Avenue are expected to end by 7 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 16.
Drivers are advised to anticipate intermittent rolling closures of Willow throughout the night. Officers with the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department will be on site to assist with detours.
Willow Avenue will re-open on a rolling basis as each block is cleared of snow, allowing cars to park on the street as soon as the block is cleared.
Please be reminded that snow removal involves large equipment, including plows, payloaders, and dump trucks, which will cause noise. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as crews work to clear the parking lanes of snow.
New Jersey Transit buses, and garbage collection, will run as scheduled during the overnight snow removal operations on Willow Ave.
Discounted overnight parking available
As a reminder, Resident On-Street Parking Permit holders can park in Municipal Garage B (28 Second St.) and the Midtown Garage (371 Fourth St.) at the discounted overnight rate of $6 between the hours of 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. Please note, garage parking is first come, first served.
Light overnight snow expected
The current weather forecast predicts light overnight snow beginning tonight, Sunday, Feb. 15 into Monday, Feb. 16, with a possible accumulation of up to 2 inches.
The Department of Public Works (DPW) will pre-treat roads this evening, and additional crews will be on standby in the event that plowing is required.
Some snow-removal related street cleaning tickets dismissed
At the City of Hoboken’s request, the Municipal Court dismissed street cleaning parking tickets issued between the morning of Monday, Feb. 2, and the end of the day, Tuesday, Feb. 3, when street cleaning regulations were in effect.
Those who already paid street cleaning related tickets issued on Feb. 2 and Feb. 3, may contact Hoboken Municipal Court to request a refund by calling (201) 420-2000, extension 1130.
This was a one-time courtesy, due to resident feedback and weather conditions, and tickets issued during overnight snow removal operations, or those issued for other parking and/or traffic violations, will NOT be dismissed.
Street cleaning enforcement in effect for street sweeping and necessary daytime plowing
Daytime plowing operations will continue this week during regular street cleaning enforcement periods on streets where snow remains in parking lanes. Streets where parking lanes are already plowed will be cleaned during their normal street sweeping window.
Vehicles not moved from street cleaning lanes during enforcement periods are subject to ticketing.
The full street cleaning schedule is available at www.hobokennj.gov/resources/street-cleaning-schedule.
