Child Abduction of an 18-month-old

The West Covina Police Department is actively investigating the abduction of an 18-month-old child.

On February 13, 2026, at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the City of West Covina regarding a reported kidnapping. Officers learned that an 18-month-old boy, identified as Isaiah Sunel Nava, was taken from the residence by his estranged aunt. The child was last seen wearing a diaper.

The estranged aunt has been identified as 26-year-old Amber Alexis Destiny Zarate. Investigators obtained surveillance video showing Zarate in the area at the time of the abduction. Zarate is on parole, a known drug user, has violent tendencies, and has outstanding warrants for her arrest. Zarate is homeless and frequents the Los Angeles area. Zarate was last seen wearing a black top, white pants, and carrying a black backpack.

The whereabouts of Zarate and the victim remain unknown. Detectives, patrol personnel, and allied law enforcement agencies are actively working to locate the child safely.
