Attempted Murder Suspect Taken into Custody After High-Speed Pursuit Through Victorville

LOCATION: 12000 block of Highgate Avenue, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Norman Lamont Johnson, 51-year-old, Resident of Lancaster
VICTIM(S): Confidential, Adult Female
SUMMARY: On Saturday, February 14, 2026, at approximately 12:57 p.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Victorville Station, responded to the 12000 block of Highgate Avenue, Victorville reference an assault.
Upon arrival, deputies learned the suspect, Norman Johnson, assaulted the victim and caused serious injuries. Deputies also determined Johnson had an active no bail parole violation warrant at the time of the incident. Following the assault, Johnson fled the location in the victim’s vehicle, described as a black BMW X4.
At approximately 1:10 p.m., deputies located the BMW X4 near Amargosa Road and Seneca Road, driven by Johnson, and attempted a traffic stop. Johnson failed to yield and led deputies on an approximate 18-mile pursuit through the City of Victorville. During the pursuit, Johnson drove at high rates of speed, entered opposing lanes of traffic, and failed to stop for multiple stop signs and traffic signals, which created a significant danger to the public. At approximately 1:31 p.m., the pursuit concluded near the 14700 block of Bear Valley Road, Victorville, where deputies took Johnson into custody without further incident.
Johnson was transported to a local hospital for pre-booking medical clearance. Upon clearance, Johnson will be booked at the High Desert Detention Center for the following charges:

• PC 273.5(a) – Felony Spousal Abuse
• PC 273.6(a) – Violation of a Criminal Protective Order
• CVC 2800.2 – Felony Evading
• CVC 2800.4 – Felony Evading While Driving Against Traffic
• CVC 10851(a) – Grand Theft Auto
• Parole Violation Warrant
The victim remains hospitalized and is receiving medical treatment for injuries.
